‘The Prom,’ as it’s affectionately called, is one of Victoria’s most treasured natural wonders. Located at the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, this place is a haven for wildlife and a real treat for any traveller. It offers breathtaking views, pristine white beaches, coastal forests, cool climate rainforests, and well-maintained walking trails.
You’ll encounter a variety of marsupials like kangaroos and wombats, along with native birds and other animals such as emus. If you’re lucky, you might even get a close-up view of them. The best way to explore ‘The Prom’ is on foot, and you’ll be captivated by the pure white quartz sand that squeaks under your feet at Squeaky Beach. You can choose to take a rainforest walk at Lilly Pilly Rainforest or enjoy amazing panoramic views on the Verekers Outlook track or Mount Bishop track, both of which are easy to moderately graded walks.
